Since her father's death, Cindy has taken over for her mother, cooking and cleaning and everything in between. As much as her sisters try to get her to get out, Cindy refuses. But this year, with the help of a pair of magical slippers and a special dress, she decides to go to the annual ball held by the Princetons. Little does she know that the very lady who sells her the magical glass slippers is the one who caused her deformed foot. Can Cindy enjoy the ball and remember to take off her magical slippers on time? Or will she suffer the dire circumstances?

If you love fairy tales, you are sure to enjoy this story. This book is a new twist on an old tale. You will recognize many of the key players in the original story from Cindy to the prince. In this version, Cindy is a strong woman but because of her deformed foot, she has hidden herself away. As the reader learns all that has befallen her, they begin to feel for Cindy and hope that the wicked witch gets her comeuppance. Maxwell is a wonderful hero who loves a woman for more than just her looks, he loves what is on the inside. I loved the relationship between Cindy and her sisters. The sisterly love they show for each other is wonderful. It was great to see them go visit the castle to try to help Cindy. Each character endears themselves to the readers except for the villain of course. Madame Laveau is one of the nastiest villains around making you hate her for taking things out on an innocent child.

This story is well written and fast paced. The reader is taken into a world of magic and love. The kind of place all little girls dreamed of, a place where good always triumphs over evil. If you still believe in the magic of love this is a book that you should read.
