| Vladimir Madison and his twin, Aleksei have twin sons Etienne and Acier Gautier. When reunited the brothers don't intend to accept their fathers who, they feel, abandoned them. Acier and Etienne feel that they both have a bloodlust mate in Raven. They're willing to fight, even kill one another to win her. And then the story gets really complicated!
Marilyn Lee has built a powerful and complex tale. Shapeshifter werewolves who also have vampire blood, what a concept! Complex bloodlust cravings make first Acier then Etienne become almost psychotic with their sexual cravings and lack of willpower. The family dynamics get complicated but so do human family dynamics. Raven who is craved by both Acier and Etienne, is a Willoni from another planet. She and her guardian, Abby, have tricks up their sleeve that are unique in my reading of paranormal romance and fantasy. This is really three books in one. Book 1 and 2 of Moonlight Madness and the culmination of the story in Moonlight Healing. All of them are excellent but together they make the tale complete. With all of the clan rivalry, vampire versus werewolf battles, hybrid versus pureblood skirmishes and the expanding dimensions of the family I wasn’t sure I could keep up with it all. But Ms. Lee makes sure that I do. The main things she keeps reiterating through it all is that family counts. The older take care of the younger even if they’re only older by a few minutes as with identical twins. And children will respect their parents, no matter what. No amount of howling, fighting or whining will supersede those codes. It all works for me! This is a great tale that tells us having a code of values will make things work out no matter what the challenges faced. It’s a great read with some superb dialogue and secondary characters along the way.
