| Remy Terreau is a business man who has just bought an old family manor in the hopes of turning it into a swanky hotel for socialites. Unfortunately Scarlet Oak Manor comes with more than just lush landscaping and beautiful décor, inside these wondrous walls live a curse brought on by the former owner, Lyle Forrester, for stealing a precious gem out of lust. Remy has been trying to find a chef for weeks, but has no luck. Then one day he comes across the best chef in Louisiana by accident at a friend’s restaurant. When Remy meets Gillian Martin he knows from the start that he has to have her, but she fights him tooth and nail. Of course Gillian is aware of his playboy façade and wants nothing to do with him until he makes her an offer she can’t refuse ?position as head chef in his hotel.
Gillian finds herself, along with Remy, betrayed by those they work and live among in a house they both know to be cursed. From blood soaked messages on the wall, to a dramatic fire in the east wing, Gillian and Remy find themselves falling in a pool of emotions that neither of them have swan in before. With Gillian’s secret past and Remy’s cursed ancestry, can they find the way to true love or will they fall by the wayside and give up? Only time, and a little old German lady, can tell. The Curse of the Midnight Star, Intrigue was a fascinating story filled page to page with mystery, excitement, and doubt. Esther Mitchell has done a wonderful job passing along the next story of the Midnight Star curse. I was compelled to continue reading until I found out just what would happen. Remy Terreau makes you want to believe in the power of supernatural phenomenon as he tries to convince himself and everyone else that the manor is not cursed. Gillian Martin is an ideal character. Her well rounded attitude and softness exuberates within the story while her predominate dark side sneaks up on you. If you are looking for mystery, suspense, and mayhem then you’ve got to get a copy of The Curse of the Midnight Star, Intrigue to find out whether or not the curse is real and just how Remy plans on settling the ghosts of Scarlet Oak Manor.
