They call her "Crazy Allie" in Damascus, but she has always known that there is more out there than the ordinary person realizes. Her career as a ghost hunter has only reinforced that, that and the fact that her five best friends are centuries old vampires. The five are former Knights Templar, who after their execution at Chinon, were cursed by the Archangel Michael, who took their souls. They have to earn their redemption and have been working on this for over six centuries. One night, two of them Raphael and Constantine, saved her from a group of rogue vampires, bringing her into their lives. Allie is most drawn to the enigmatic and often hostile Sebastian, but bigger problems have invaded the town. A serial killer rogue vampire and his crew have been kidnapping, torturing and murdering young women in the area. They are searching for a Druid relic called the Daystar, but no one is sure what it is or what it does. To complicate things more, Allie's younger sister Lexi is up north for a visit. She knows all about the Knights and wants to meet them and Allie wants to keep her safe from the killer.

The author packs an awful lot of story into this book. It will keep most every reader glued to the pages, but the fans of vampire fiction might miss a meal or two or some sleep finishing this one. The setting and characters are beautifully described, I felt like I knew each and every one of them. The Knights have such distinct personalities as described in their nicknames: Sage, Rogue, Dragon, Knight, and Guardian. They have retained their identities as medieval warriors while adapting to the modern world. The villains are evil and creepy, just as they should be. The story line is riveting; the suspense building until the climax and unexpected ending, but the story is not without humor. I just loved Allie and Sebastian's love story; the two are wonderful together. The author also left us with the hope of further stories; she just can't leave me hanging with the fate of the Knight, and Constantine and Lexi's story.
