Belle has finally managed to escape New York City and her high-powered job as an accountant. She's back in the wild and very excited to be free, to be able to run wild as a wolf. When she comes across a fellow wolf injured in the woods, she brings it back to her cabin to help it recover, only to discover that it isn't an ordinary wolf. It's a Were, just like her; a very handsome and sexy Were!

Alex Whitehorse is the Alpha of his pack. He's in charge of keeping all the other wolves in line and just keeping order amongst the pack. It's too bad he's been in such a foul mood lately. After his fiancĂ©e left him for another man, Alex hasn't been able to think clearly. He doesn't understand why Serena turned him down, why she didn't want him. Alex decides to go for a run to clear his mind, only to be shot! When he wakes up in a strange cabin with a very bossy female nursing him, all he wants is out… until he gets a good look at the beautiful Belle. His instant attraction stuns him and soon they are making love with wild abandon. Belle recognizes him almost instantly as her mate, but Alex isn't quite so sure. When Alex finally gets his act together though, he's elated… he has a mate! Belle is his destiny. Too bad his happiness doesn't last. Before he knows it, a whole slew of problems crop up including the fact that Belle is an Abomination and that her brother is the man who took Serena from him. Will Alex be able to see past these problems to the lovely woman that Belle is, or will he let pride get in the way?

A Midsummer Night's Heat is scorching! This book kept me hooked from the first page until the very end. My favorite character was Belle because she was a definite take-charge type of woman. She wasn't about to stand aside and let Alex forget about their bond. She was more than willing to go the distance to prove that their love was so much stronger than the superficial problems Alex kept throwing in her face. Alex had been alone so long he seemed to have forgotten what compromise was, though Belle was quick to remind him. This was not only well written and fast paced, it was also very sensual and erotic. This reviewer also enjoyed the many interesting secondary characters that helped to keep the plot line flowing smoothly. Judy Mays has written a winner with this story. If you like the werewolf genre, you won't want to miss this book.
