| MiLady and various partners have built a fantasy world to train wives and lovers to become better submissives. Alex thinks this will be the perfect way to get his wife back into the roles they played when they were younger and make their marriage work.
This novel seems to have everything. Romance, intrigue, great sex and some powerful characters who drive the story. MiLady is shown as partly a psychologist, one who explains all the risks to the couple before they start any training then delves into their minds as well as their dom/submissive desires. Mostly the author paints her as a true dominatrix who has an affinity for her girls because she has been submissive with the right partner. The way the author unravels the story of Alex and Clarisse until she gets down to the nitty gritty of what has made their life hell for over 20 years is exceptionally well done. Lady Midnight builds Clarisse in Alex’s mind and ours as a troubled woman, suffering in the marriage because of the death of their friends as he does but also suffering because of what Alex doesn‘t do as her partner. All the tried and true techniques that usually work for MiLady don’t work for Clarisse. The father of their former lover shows up at just the right moment to give us the pieces of the puzzle that have been missing. This is a much more complex and well built storyline than many BDSM books I’ve read. The mystery builds just enough frustration at our being unable to put it together then is solved at just the right moment. The antics of some of the secondary characters are sure to bring a smile to your face.
