Steve Miller, white rookie LAPD cop, responds to a burglary. There he finds two damsels in residence, one of them the most gorgeous woman of color he’s ever seen. Sonja Knight is a defense attorney, often the nemesis of the LAPD. The two are drawn together by passion, willing to fight the racial barriers surrounding them, even from their own families.

G.A. Hauser takes on a new challenge in her superb erotic fiction. She’s well known for her superb gay romance novels but this time she takes on interracial relationships. The author seems to lovingly build all of her characters and families. Steve, Sonja, each of the parents, Steve’s coworkers on the LAPD, all take on great depth as people.

The eroticism between Steve and Sonja is sexy and fun. Issues that have become very public in the LAPD are mentioned, racism is addressed and we are shown a police force doing its best to clean up its act. The racial issue is dealt with using compassion and excellent dialogue that make it feel like real people with real lives showing us how they cope.

Ms. Hauser has always impressed me with the way she writes and this is no exception. Her stories draw me in, wrap me up and carry me into peoples’ lives so that I’m sad when it ends. I feel almost like I’m saying goodbye to friends I’ve made through the book when the last page comes. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants classy, well written romance.
