Veterinarian Brody McAlister makes house calls to care for her patients. Brody has communicated with animals all of her life and the ability has helped her tremendously in caring for her patients but is a very uncomfortable gift for others to understand. When Brody receives information from the pet dog of a kidnapped child she reluctantly tells San Diego Detective J.T. Flynn what she knows. J.T. knows there is something very strange about Brody and where she gets her information but he'll take any help to find a missing child. But can Brody trust J.T. with the truth and can J.T. handle it? Brody and J.T. have a lot of chemistry but without trust, they have nothing...

I really liked this story. Brody's gift of talking to animals is fun and interesting as is her dilemma of just how much to share with the sexy detective. J.T. is a no nonsense police detective but Brody may can really help him solve his case. Is Brody a flake or a gifted woman and why does J.T.'s heart flip over when he merely thinks about the sexy veterinarian. Brody also finds herself drawn to J.T. but sharing about her gift with people almost always ends in ridicule, can she risk it? I liked both Brody and J.T. and the unique situation they find themselves in that tests everything they have believed up to now. Brody is very worried that if people know about her gift of communicating with animals she'll lose her practice but personally I'd love a vet who could ask my dog what was wrong. Would I believe that the vet could talk to my pet? I would if I saw what the people around Brody saw when she communicated with the animals and I'm pretty no nonsense myself. But this story does of an excellent job of making Brody's gift seem possible! If you love animals, psychic gifts, talented veterinarians, romantic suspense, and hunky detectives, you will love this story!
