| Tristan McKade and Shamus Long both died in action. So what are they doing back in Tristan's hometown? Seems both were rebuilt after they died. Now Tristan has to confront the girlfriend who believes him dead and a son he never knew he had. Sara's being targeted by The Mangler, a serial killer. Mark, her fiancé is too busy being jealous of Tristan to be much help.
Amanda Young has done a great job with this story. We get vampires, cloning, a couple different versions of ménages a trois and suspense. Shamus, Tristan, Sara and Mark are great characters in their respective roles. Mark has a great part in the tale as a friend, excellent lover and father figure for Sam, Sara’s son. But, when Sara wants him to step up and just be her man he doesn’t quite make it. John Ramsey as Tristan’s and Shamus’ boss is a good character. I’m glad Sara didn’t cut him any slack when she finds out he’s also the father who walked out on her when she was just a baby. Lester Morgan seems to be just a boring lecher wanting to get into Sara’s jeans but shows he’s really nastier than that. When not vampire hunting or trying to keep Sara safe Shamus and Tristan get into some hot sexual scenes. Tristan seems to swing both ways and, rather that be bothered by that, Sara wants more. To the men’s delight she seems to have an active fantasy life along with her raging hormones. Ms. Young builds an excellent tale. Macabre blends with humor very well as Shamus and Tristan give each other a hard time for stress relief every chance they get. The storyline plays well, the eroticism is fun and the ending is very well done for a little heart in your throat suspense if you‘re not paying attention to a little hint along the way. This is great reading.
