Elaine Gibson had been the one witness responsible for the arrest of Buster Jenson, a serial killer with an affinity for knives. Jenson has been released from prison on a technicality and now is after the one person that he feels responsible for his imprisonment. The problem is that he mistakes Cyann as Elaine. Detective Tucker Morgan, recovering from being injured on the job, is assigned to protect Cyann. At first he resents having to babysit some babe, even if she is beautiful but that quickly changes after they meet. There is an instant chemistry between them that Cyann fights and denies with every breath, even though her body betrays her by showing her desire. Will physical attraction and emotional attachment get in the way of Tucker protecting Cyann? What will happen after Jenson is back behind bars; will they desire a relationship or separate after the adrenaline passes? Mistaken Identity by Cissy Hassell is a thrilling romantic suspense filled with excitement and colorful characters. Cyann refuses to give in to a man because of good looks and smooth lines, she has been hurt before. She denies her heart and her body's reactions whenever Tucker is around. Sparks fly between them and their passion turns into verbal battles. Tucker did not go into the case planning to fall in love. He loves seeing the passion in Cyann as she finds reasons to argue, she's quite the spitfire. Eventually they can not control themselves and act on their passions. Cyann continues to deny her feelings because she refuses to be hurt again. It is easy to see the vulnerability that Cyann tries to hide as well the hurt Tucker feels when Cyann denies him. Cyann's family and Tucker's family get into the act. They see what the two will not admit. Cyann has a sister who is psychic and sees danger for Cyann. This adds to the suspense. The interaction between all the relatives adds a little comical relief to the story. Jenson is insane and loves to taunt his prey. The story becomes very suspenseful as he plays a wicked game of manipulation. Mistaken Identity by Cissy Hassell is a moderately paced novel filled with passion and suspense involving a serial killer as he plays his game of cat and mouse with two people as they discover the desire they have kept hidden from themselves.
