Justine Maria Fiorenzo has run off, leaving Dimitri Marshan one month before their arranged marriage

Dimitri feels his wedding must go on. It will save his vineyards and the jobs of those who depend on him. A contract arranged long ago by the grandfathers of both the bride and groom decreed this marriage. Only Dimitri and Justine’s grandmother know who will inherit if the two are not wed.

Gabrielle Nobel is recovering from a relationship with a scoundrel named Eric. He pawned her black pearl earrings to buy a gift for Bambi, his new girlfriend. She is not anxious for any new relationship. Gaby has the misfortune to look just like Justine -- it turns out they are twins -- and is kidnapped by Dimitri’s bodyguard.

Justine tries to move into Gaby’s life, while Gaby is held in Dimitri’s mansion. She finds him much more appealing than Justine ever did. She fantasizes about this handsome man. And then someone tries to murder her.

Dimitri’s half-brother Jacque and Justine’s grandmother figure prominently in this suspenseful story. There is steamy passion, but the plot is rather contrived and the characters lack dimension. It would be nice to know that the lovers have something besides great sex to keep them bonded. We know very little about Gabrielle’s job or the day-to-day management of Dimitri’s vineyard. And it seems more could be down with women over thirty who suddenly discover their twinship.

I was also puzzled by the girls’ father, Jordan Nobel. After the affair that resulted in the pregnancy, he returned to the United States, married someone new, rather quickly it seems, and was delighted to receive Gabi shortly after her birth. He never knew she was a twin. But had he possessed real feelings for her mother? It would have been interesting to know more of that story.
