Derek Sloane has been badly burned by models in the past, hates photographing them. It takes a lot of money and perks to get him to agree to do a month long photo shoot for Alpha Designs. All of Derek’s resolutions are forgotten when he finds out how uniquely different Brad Doyle is. He doesn’t seem like the kind of self centered models he’s used to it. When Brad risks his own life to save another from a riptide Derek knows he’s found a man unlike all others.

Cassie Stevens has written a great storyline for these two characters. Derek has made a promise to himself that he’d never get involved with a model again. Seems like it’s going to be like one of those well intentioned New Year’s resolutions as soon as he gets to meet Brad Doyle. The lust is instantaneous. It’s hard to believe he might not give in to lust. Brad has idolized Derek for years. He’s also built as a well rounded, caring, helping individual who puts others first. It’s fun and erotic to watch Derek’s defenses crumble as he realizes that Brad is not the egotistical man he expected.

Ms. Steven does a great job showing the two men having to reexamine the stereotypes they’ve built, especially Derek. She also builds in the paparazzi inundation that celebrities have to deal with even though hers are a little more humane than some whose antics are well publicized. This is a good read for the depth of the characters, dialogue, scenario transition and hot sex.
