Lexie Graham grew up in a small town where everyone knew everyone else and people tended to be kind to one another. She feels lost in the city where the only bright spot is her job with the residents of the senior citizen's home where she works as a physical therapist. Still, her Mom taught her to be a positive person and she's determined to make the world around her better. Meeting Kevin McIntyre sure brightened her day.

Susan Lyons has penned a really sweet story as a tribute to mothers everywhere. Those of us who have kids may even become more optimistic as we see all the memories Lexie has of the good things her mom always said to her. Most of us think they don't hear us especially during those teen years which are far worse than the terrible twos any day!

The author paints what seems a rather realistic view of city life, at least in Lexie's apartment building. Meeting the new resident Pearl Oliver, Kevin McIntyre, her good looking neighbor and their friends help her see a much more positive side of life in the city.

This is really an uplifting book for moms and for people everywhere who get bogged down in their surroundings like Lexie did at first. The author reminds us that there just might be something brighter around the corner if we keep looking with a smile on our face.
