While working on her thesis in sociology during the summer months, Deanna moved into her sister Catherine's ranch house. She would be of help with her niece and nephew during her sister's latest pregnancy. Deanna never dreamed she'd fall in love again after having gone through two botched loves. She swore she would not fall in love with another guy ever. So when she met the handsome ranch foreman named C. R., short for Cade Robert Whitmore, during the summer, and her heart went into a quick pitter patter, she did her best not to let it get the better of her.

On the other hand, love had its own reasoning. And Cade did his best to make her see how it could be if she would only say yes. He also reveals a secret he thought was well hidden.

This is a fabulous novel that I would invite a young adult to read. The sensual part of the novel is very nicely written, there are no vulgar parts in it. I would even say it has a Christianity background to it. There are actually three love stories in this one novel.

I like the fairytale image it has even though I found it to be somewhat tedious in moving forward. I would have preferred a few more energetic actions rather than the monotone heartbeat that the novel held all along the book.

At times Deanna sounded rather young, as if she's in her teens. Yet when she gave advice, she sounded like an older thirties adult. I found that there was a bigger time gap between the two as the novel moved forward. She felt like she didn't grow with the novel even though C. R. did. I wouldn't have minded if the narrative would have been from his point of view.
