Spoiled vampire Rosa Ferrer luxuriates in violence and frequent pleasures but she's become bored with her current lifestyle. Her solution is to create a perfect partner by finding a mortal and turning him. Alik Lennox, a Royal Marine Commando has just made a horrible discovery so when he meets a gorgeous woman in a bar he thinks a one-night stand is just the thing to take his mind off his future. Or has he just met his fate?

This was a stark and sexual read. The beginning was raw and grabs you into Rosa's world and never lets go until the last word. I loved the fact that she made no apology for being morally corrupt or for her very violent past and present. She embraces her bloodthirsty nature and bullies until she gets her own way. In real life, I'd probably despise her but as the heroine in this story I cannot help but admire her chutzpah. Alik is that perfect mixture of dominant man and tender lover; he's compelling and comforting. He is a good guy with a bad guy edge, both commanding and cherishing. He was so easy to fall in love with. Without giving anything away I wish the ending had some added detail, some insight into why his choices lead him where they did. I thoroughly enjoyed the setting in this story and I cannot wait to read more adventures about these fascinating vampires and the world they live in. If you like your paranormals spicy this one's a must-read.
