Grayson Delaney is a rake and wastrel and has no plans to change. Unfortunately for Gray, his father disagrees with his way of existence and cuts him off. He gives him a place to live that Gray has vowed he would never return to, and a way to make a living with a brewery that his father won in a card game. Margret Bradford cares for one thing -- her brewery. It has been in her family for generations and she is determined to see a profit so that she can launch her sisters into society. Only then can she relax that her secret won't hurt anyone. Can Gray win Maggie with his hard work and dedication to her brewery? Or will his own secret ruin any chance of a love between them?

Let me congratulate Ms. Landon on a wonderful book. This is one of the best historicals I have read this year. The plot is thick and there are some great surprises. The main characters have grit and determination and the background is full of extras.

One of the things I found different about this historical romance is that there is very little attention paid to the politics of the time. The story makes little reference to the London scene and is refreshingly unique in that aspect. The extra back story that we get on Gray makes us take the time to evaluate our assumptions and reminds us to look beyond the book cover. The independent Maggie allows us to understand the trials of being a woman in a time where women were considered too delicate to have a thought for themselves. If you can't tell, I enjoyed this story let me make it crystal clear... 5 hearts for Ms. Landon and welcome to my must read author list.
