| Plucked from the streets by Hunt Peregrine, Morgandy was raised to be a lady. Six months after her rescue, Hunt disappeared and his brother took over her care. He sold her in marriage to an older man and upon his death has decided to take Morgandy for himself. Hunt, having escaped from a foreign prison, comes home to find his ward all grown up and being brutally treated by his brother, who claims to have lost the family fortune despite all signs to the contrary. Hunt is determined to have Morgandy for his own and find out what his brother is up to. Being able to change into a bird will help him to find the answers he needs.
I really enjoyed this romance and the author writes some of the best love scenes ever. The characters are very black and white for the most part. Clive has no redeeming qualities at all and is consumed with jealousy. His friend Lord Grimley (you have to love these names) is full of greed and lust. Morgandy and Hunt are the undoubted heroes from the beginning. Morgandy has been manipulated and abused by Clive since Hunt’s disappearance, and Hunt has been a victim of his brother as well. His ability to shape shift helps him to find out his brother’s plans and witness his abuse. There could have been a bit more detail to the story, but it works very well nonetheless.
