On her wedding day, Susan Rhodes receives a note on a cocktail napkin from her groom explaining in short detail that the wedding is off and she should marry someone else. She goes from a woman about to be happily married to one who withdraws from reality, shutting herself off from her friends and family in order to deal with the heartbreak.

Kevin Jacobs isn't looking forward to watching his best friend Susan walk down the aisle to marry another man, but he's punishing himself anyway by being there so he can finally get over his feelings for her. However, when he arrives he finds the bride in hysterics and the reason is because the wedding is off.

Michael Cain has written a dynamic story filled with lots of emotion and a slight touch of mystery. Kevin whisking her off on the honeymoon to Cancun that was booked and paid for by her jerk of a fiancé was a brilliant idea. The fiancé's loss was Susan's gain, or Kevin's. I thoroughly enjoyed how Kevin managed to dig Susan out of her catatonic state by using the things he remembered made her happy. However, Susan accepting dire advice from her other best friend, Liz, and acting on it before thinking about the consequences was a bad choice on her behalf. Didn't she realise Kevin could have turned his back on her, even though he'd been secretly in love with her since they'd met?

There was so many times where I wished I could read faster because I wanted to see what the future held in store for these two amazing characters. Strong sex scenes dominated this book, together with great dialogue made this book an absolute joy to read. I also liked how the author left them apart for six months without any contact, only to reunite them with Kevin on the arm of Susan's hero in college and arch nemesis in the architect world, Francesca Costa. Because it made Susan realise that her perfect man has been in her life all along, and that what was between them could last a lifetime.
