Blair is more than desperate; her slime ridden boyfriend, and co-habitant, has run off with not only his share of the rent but cleaned out her bank account at the same time. Absolute need forces her eyes to the Help Wanted sign hanging in a window as she is driving. Debating on the somewhat down ridden convenience store with gas station, she decides earning a few pennies is better than earning none at all. Meeting the hunky Race, who turns out to be the store manager, puts a brighter shine on the days shes been having.

Race is a widower who would love to have a warm sexy wife and a good mother for his young son, and he could truly imagine that role taken on by Blair. He just cant understand why she doesnt seem to like children, but then on the other hand bonds with his son at their very first meeting. Hed like nothing more than to have several more children, not only for himself but also to give his son a real family again. Blair, on the other hand, has been severely affected by the loss of her father figures (plural) from her childhood and the strain then left upon her poor mother, and has the defence built into her psyche enforcing the must have financial stability for her future. Her schooling is a very important part for that reason. Neither really understands what governs the others needs.

I enjoyed so very much the various wild characters written into this story. I could just picture the goings on and had tears in my eyes from laughing. The bowling alley adventure, or the diner visit---absolutely great! Just the right amount of romance in this story, spiced with lots of fun humor and the fact that it doesnt take too long before these two great individuals decide, and rightly so, that compromise is the answer to the problem still dividing them. I'll look definitely for more work from this author!
