Roxie Whitaker loves the town of Mossy Bog and the people in it so much better than the traveling life she had with her missionary parents. Sloan Harding has been happy to avoid the town since he joined the army, never expected to return. When a storm puts a tree through the roof of his childhood home he meets Roxie. The sparks fly between them. That doesn't seem to be able to keep them together when Sloan accuses her grandfather of stealing a fortune.

Maggie Toussaint does a great job blending romance with suspense that simmers constantly. While the reader waits with baited breath to see if Roxie and Sloan can work it out, we also have to figure out who may be trying to harm her. Identity theft, getting shot at, and having her home flooded are just some of the things she has to deal with. She remains a character we can admire for her tenacity and strength through the adversity. When she weakens there are friends to fall back on. Like in life, standing up for principals doesn't always feel good. This is a well developed tale of the positives and negatives of small town living.

Sloan wasn't as lucky. He had to leave the town to shake off the burden of family and build his own support system. It takes a lot more to clear up the murky waters of his past and burdens of the present. This book is so appropriately titled, more so than many I‘ve read. So many things become clearer in the lives of the characters as the author works on them throughout the book, building situations and their lives.
