| Writer Tania has lost all her motivation, her creativity hemmed by the fact that she feels she has nothing to even get up out of bed for…no reason to even make that small effort. Her husband left her six months ago for one of his college-aged bimbos. Her latest book deadline is way overdue. She needs a Muse, and badly…
That missing lure needed to bring back confirmation that she is a desirable, living, breathing, sexual creature is rejuvenated once casting her needy eyes on new neighbor Boone. Boone needs a new outlet in his life. Like Tania, his motivation is gone. A life full of other people's desires, women who are way too young, the too serious competitiveness among photographers… I really felt for Tania, not being able to complete her thoughts as she attempts to write. Her struggle comes across so very real-questioning just what her character should be doing, feeling, thinking. Enjoyed very much following the story she is trying to write, as the daily activities in her life happen and influence what she writes into her characters. Loved the paragraph where Tania is thinking that every woman wants her special man, and he certainly doesn't have to be a stereotyped gorgeous hunk, to look at her with the complete involvement that romance novels are composed for…yes, and so right on the mark (pg 64)! Following her thoughts of her novel, the reader is made to think about certain points necessary to writing, in order to actually write a good story. Describing an action, rather than mentioning the action. And when Tania finally can give up the clock-just priceless. But I don't want to downplay the underlying depth to this novel; I felt that the journey literally travelled by both Tania and Boone was hard. Dealing with the mistrust infidelity might bring on, falling for a person you haven't even known more than a day or so-is it so easy to trust another and accept them, especially when they inspire feelings you'd thought dead? Can someone you actually know nothing about truly be a Muse? Alisha was excellent in her character taking the initiative and making Tania and Boone get back together.
