This is a set of two romances in one book by one of my favorite authors. In A Mischievous Matchmaker both Elnora Precott and Wade Mathias the third Earl of Kendrick are looking for a baby. She has promised to find the daughter of her lifelong friend. He's looking for his deceased sister's child. Misunderstandings abound in this tale as the two agree to combine forces to take all three babies from a less than pristine foundling home. Wade gets himself into one muddle after another whenever he tries to express himself. The path to true love is never easy but Ms. Toombs always makes the walk worth reading about.

The second installment pit's a wily aunt against her recalcitrant nephew who's wallowing in his misery. With Music Of The Heart Ms. Toombs weaves an intricate tale of at least one partner in the romance willing to take risks to gain their one true love. Malcolm Rothwell, Viscount of Talland, falls in love with Juliet Green the night before he goes off to fight the French. He comes back after the battle injured, weary and blind. Of course he rejects those he loves as the macho man he thinks he must be. Ms. Toombs and his aunt Elaine manage to work around his stubbornness to get him to do what his heart desires.

Ms. Toombs gives us two excellent romances that are well crafted and fun to read. The men in each are not your standard Regency era men without flaw. Each book gives us a man full of idiocyncrasies and the women who love them anyway. She makes them believable with characters easy to like. Both installments make this a great read.
