The American Civil War is the setting for My Enemy, My Love, but the main story is the two young lovers thrown together by an uncertain fate. They are enemies by politics but are made partners by circumstances that are beyond either of their control. Captain David Reynolds of the Seventeenth Pennsylvania Cavalry was a man of honor and duty.. But the horrors of war made him numb while still honoring his responsibility to the men he led in his command. He didn’t believe in the glory of war, having seen the chaos and horror of battle after battle. Jennifer Winston had been insulated from the war by her father, whose only goal was to make Pleasant Run Manor a prosperous farm and feed his family. Jenny could hear the cannons just miles away from her home. She prayed for all the brave soldiers without knowing her life was about to change forever.

My Enemy, My Love is a romantic story of star crossed lovers who under other circumstances would have made a much celebrated match. David is a frustrated gentleman farmer from Pennsylvania and Jenny is an heiress to a working Virginia plantation. He admired her spirit and loving nature, she fell in love with his kindness and sense of honor. It seemed a match made in heaven except for one large problem – they were on opposite sides of the Civil War. How can these two lovers come together to heal their own hearts when the whole country seems determined to pull them apart? Ms Wylie wrote a richly detailed and very romantic story set in a timeframe that, from historic battlefields to infamous prisons, has many opportunities for drama and suspense along with the central love story. The love between David and Jenny grows deep and true as they fight to overcome the many challenges and hardships of their times. Endearing family relationships keep you turning the pages to see what will happen next. There is just enough suspense to keep you involved and the story flows along quickly to its conclusion. Diane Wylie is a new voice in historical romance who will please many fans with her fresh perspective of an old story.
