| On his way to the American colonies to wed his bride-to-be, Lord Adrian Beaumont saves a young stowaway from jumping into the sea. The youth was trying to escape punishment for stealing food while hiding on the ship. Adrian realizes the child would not survive a beating so
offers to buy the lad. Both the captain and the boy agree to Adrian's proposal.
In his cabin, Adrian instructs Danny, his new servant, to bathe, but the boy refuses. Adrian doesn't like to be disobeyed. He proceeds to dunk the boy in the tub and then strips off the boy's wet clothes. Adrian's suspicions are confirmed--Danny is really a girl. Danny has been fascinated by Lord Beaumont for a long time. The little street urchin had often heard of the dashing rogue's escapades. Danny had fallen asleep on the ship while waiting to catch a final glimpse of Adrian before he left England forever. Their strange beginning leads them down a path of love, passion and adventure. But will they be able to keep that love when neither Adrian nor Danny can trust giving their heart to the other? The hero and heroine are stubborn, strong-willed and easy to fall in love with. Neither has ever really had love in their lives--it's easy to see why they don't want to risk having their hearts broken. Several colorful secondary characters--both good and bad guys--add lots of spice to the story. The author's descriptions are vivid and thorough, yet don't bog down the flow of the story. This well-written book is one you don't want to miss.
