| Tavish MacBain had been away from his home in Scotland for 32 years; he had been the second twin, born five minutes after his sibling, Tomas, so he was sent to England to live with his mother and her family. He fought in the battles, but never killed a Scotsman; he did, however, kill one Englishman for slaying his brother! Now he was returning to the Village of Landon, specifically Castle Wynderon, to take his place as Laird of the manor.
He knew that he would possibly be unacceptable to his townspeople because he had been in England these years. However, he planned to entice his sister-in-law, Kristiana, into vouching for his true desires to help his people. When they first met, he thought she was a servant because she was doing menial work and there was no one else around. The only servants left were the groundskeeper and his wife, the cook, and she had sent them away for needed supplies. The reaction between the two was instant, electric and combustible! I was unfamiliar with Ms. Jodi Lynn Copeland before reading this phenomenal book. I thoroughly enjoyed the story. While the sexual encounters were hot and very explicit, the romance was beautiful. Ms. Copeland has an explosive story-telling ability! She contributes much to the story by way of sub-characters, but they, in no way, detract from the main characters. I absolutely love this book and highly recommend it.
