Gatekeeper Ronal de Amshe knew he wouldn’t get a warm welcome in the elves realm, and he was right. The princess Caetria is cousin to the elf Gatekeeper Daklin. Instead of giving this particular Vampire a chance because of the esteem her cousin holds for him, she instead questions Daklin’s sanity! Her father Matiro assigns her to be Ronal’s guide and companion while he’s in their realm. As a royal she would do her duty, and her father hoped that duty would teach her much about life. Ronal immediately envisioned how passionate their union could be but despite some seductive magic slipping out to spark between them he did not try to enchant her. Women came to him willingly; he wanted Caetria to do the same. These lovers face many obstacles but they are fated to fall in love.

Mythe 2: Vampire is a very satisfying sequel bringing back all of the characters readers wanted to see again from Mythe: Satyr. Ronal was a mysterious, powerful presence before and now we see his enchanting persona developed. Caetria is a Princess Brat; sheltered, arrogant, ignorant and incredibly beautiful. Thankfully she’s also intelligent and grew to understand the world did not revolve around her and that as Shakespeare wrote “there are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy”. Exquisite lady or not I can’t see how Ronal and Caet could have had more than some ultra hot otherworldly sex if she hadn’t wised up! Her character growth was supported by the way Shiloh Walker wove together the threats to Mythe with the resolution for the elves. Ronal and Caetria have center stage, the sensuality grabs your attention and they grab your heart. Their story is beautifully described with phrases that make both them and the world of Mythe rich and real. But wonderful secondary characters add so much depth to this fantasy adventure. The story of Caet’s parents was amazing. I can’t say too much but get the box of Kleenex! The adventure and sensuality of this fantasy world definitely supports a longer story. I found myself again wanting more. The next book is on my "got to get it" list already! I will enjoy the stories of Mythe for ever and a day.
