| Kimberley is a werewolf raised as a human. Her parents left the Pack before she was born and raised her brother and herself without much knowledge of what they were. They were killed when she was fourteen. Her brother has been making some pretty anxious phone calls, asking her to come home, but she finally has some independence and doesn’t want to lose it. One of her employers clients, a very wealthy man named Nico Cassamonte, has been appearing in her dreams lately, very erotic dreams. Nico knows that he has found his mate, but as the Pack Benandanti of a Pack on the verge of war within itself, it is a little inconvenient that she has no idea how to be a werewolf, much less a queen.
This story had me hooked from the first few pages. I loved Kimberley, she is a tough woman in a little package and she faces the changes in her life with a lot of courage and humor. Her brother really did her a disservice in not teaching her about her other nature, but he was just a kid when their parents died too, so he can be forgiven. Nico is a great character; he is smart, sexy, stubborn, but gentle where Kimberley is concerned. It is no surprise that he is the leader. David is a typically overprotective brother with a lot of alpha wolf thrown in. The villain of the piece will be a surprise to the reader but there are plenty of creepy characters to focus in on. The proposed pact with the Coyotes and David’s relationship with Cassandra, Kimberley’s boss, looks promising for future stories. The various other wolves are very well described and the reader will feel that they know the Pack and their culture by the end of this riveting tale.
