Neither have all the facts from the other, and the secrets they keep could be the ones they need the most to stay alive, and to start their future together.
This is my first book by this author, and I am excited to say I’ve found another great storyteller. The desperation of a daughter’s guilt over past mistakes was clearly understood by Eve’s actions, as well as Nick’s guilt over what he wishes would have been a different ending to a past case. The reader can easily relate to these emotions. The plot flows smoothly with no break in the action, whether it was adding to the suspense of the story or the incredibly written sexual tension and love scenes between Eve and Nick. And when one of Eve’s secrets is revealed, I was pleasantly surprised. The author surely surprised me with that one! Eve was a strong competent heroine who had very human and normal faults. Some of Nick’s actions bothered me, especially toward the end of the book, but I can only assume they were because of his strong feelings towards Eve.
