Natchez

Deb Crockett
Historical Romance
Available from Scheherazade Tales

Rebecca Bennet has not been lucky in love, and pushing twenty it looks like she will remain an aging unwed maid, a future her doting father refuses to accept. To the extent that he sells his mercantile store in Savannah, Georgia and purchases a cotton plantation in Natchez, Mississippi from one Mister Oliver Sebastian. His frame of mind is it will be easier to find a suitable husband for a rich, aging daughter, then a moderate income one.

Rebecca first glimpse of Oliver Sebastian renews her interest in the opposite sex. An interest that blazes into full glory as their steamboat makes its way along the Mississippi River. An interest that seems to be returned.

Tragedy strikes Rebecca, and she turns to her only source of comfort, Oliver. Believing that from out of ashes, hope will rise, only to have her dreams shred.

Rebecca must make difficult decisions. Some for the best. Some that will haunt her.

I enjoyed this book. Within its pages I visited another world and era. At first I didn't care for Rebecca. I found her a little flighty. But the young woman grows, and with her growth I discovered a character I enjoyed and rooted for. I think you will like her and her story too.
