| Paige Blackwell is on the trail of another case from Parker Security and Investigation. Since leaving the force, Paige has filled her days by investigating cases of her own choosing. When a missing person’s case turns up a dead body in the trunk of a car, Paige has a hard time dealing with it. Fortunately she is approached by a man named Wade who offers her a nice chunk of money to be on a reality T.V. show on a secluded island. Paige reluctantly accepts and is whisked away to rainforest where she finds herself amongst the strangest of contestants. Just as Paige is adapting to the wilderness and her job as team captain, it becomes evidently clear that she is no contestant on a T.V. reality show, but in truth is the prey to very wealthy hunters.
If you think you’ve seen all there is to be seen of the reality survival shows then you’re way off the mark. Natural Selection shows a gruesome and terrifying story of a simple popular T.V. show twisted and manipulated by sadistic wealthy crones. The story begins on a strong leg with an unsolved murder and just keeps rolling into the thrilling conclusion. Paige is the perfect heroine; she refuses to let herself become overrun with fear and keeps a strong leading position throughout the entire story. But you can’t dismiss the entire set of characters for each one brings a quality to the story that fulfills the overall scheme. I was overwhelmed by the strength of even the meager of characters as they trudge through the rainforest of a deserted island in a race for their lives. I highly recommend Natural Selection by Liz Wolfe to anyone with a hair raising love of suspense and good vs. evil.
