Taking photographs at an inaugural ball for a Senator should have been safe. But when Lisa's attacked, the assailant demanding her film negatives, she knows she's taken more than just photos of the Senator but that of a serial killer and his next victim. Escaping, she goes straight to the police and ends up in protective custody with Detective Dean Jennings as her protector.

Desire for each other turns to love. With the serial killer caught and in custody, everything should be wonderful. Finally, Lisa and Dean can relax and look forward to the future. Or can they?

To start with, I felt confused because it felt more like I was reading an excerpt than the story itself. Lisa and Dean's relationship and how they came to be together was introduced and woven in as back story within the initial opening. Yet it left no room for character development. However, the author has the ability to create edge-of-your-seat tension and suspense and that shone through when happiness turns to terror. Negative Image is a shorter work that that would have been an excellent story, for me, if it had been longer.
