Ida Stevens hated the thought of winter approaching here in this wilderness, a far cry from the home she had left to marry Liam. It was only a few months after they arrived that Liam decided to head off to California and leave Ida here in Salt Lake where he felt she was safer. Alone and with no money Ida took in odd jobs to have enough to eat and keep going since Liam promised he would be back in the spring. But with no letter from him in all these months it was still hard to hold hope with the winter's harsh wind approaching.

It was after a storm that Ida found him, wounded and half frozen - a man had tried to make his way in the snow and failed. As she struggled to get him back to the cabin, she didn't give much thought to who he was. He was only a stranger that would freeze to death if she didn't help. It was only after he recovered did she find out he was wanted by the law. By then it was too late. Together in the cabin in the dead of winter a friendship turned into love and soon the memory of Liam was just that - only a memory. Kelly seemed to win her heart and soul with just being there. The sound of another's voice something she had longed for was now there. He filled the empty nights with laughter and eventually love, but that had to come to an end. Kelly left Ida telling her it was not safe for her with him there. She seemed to understand only somehow she knew she would find him again no matter how long it took. Even when Liam returned it wasn't the same and she knew she had to follow her heart.

A sensual story of two individuals who were lost in the wilderness of life and only until they found each other did the glow of life set their passion and love. I can't decide if I think that Ida is the main character or Kelly is, the wounded man she saves. I will say I enjoyed the ending and you will also.
