| Italian diamond courier Dante Rocco had a passionate affair with rival-turned-lover Alexandros Nicolaides in his native Italy two months ago. Impulse and the myriad of emotions he's struggling to sort through bring him to New Orleans for a reunion with his beautiful lover. It doesn't help that Alex is a vampire and others of his kind not only complicate their lives but place them in danger. Alex's desire for Dante never seems to waver and makes it even harder for Dante decide what he wants. Will Dante decide he can live in Alex's world with all its beauty and danger before it's too late?
The follow up to Night Train to Naples offers a very simple story driven mostly by the inner conflict of the characters. Even though Dante's doubts strain things between he and Alex early in the work, the chemistry between the two men soon bleeds through. Sensuality blends with emotion to make this simple tale a riveting and pleasing read. The plot moves along nicely, the dialogue is good with some Italian thrown in unobtrusively. The author creates a strong setting that places the reader in the French Quarter and sets the mood for steamy sensual scenes and the lurking danger the characters find themselves in. With an elegant voice and two characters that will melt hearts, Ms. Valdez has written a nice gem of a story that I'd recommend to anyone who loves a good romance.
