| Adam Lang hid from the reality of his life. He didn’t want to know about his family’s brutal past or the world that he ruled. He lived in ignorance of all that was taking place in his name until forced to face the truth by his sworn enemy, Nicolas. Nicolas Ross is the leader of the underworld’s largest crime family and he's intent on finding the “cure” to the curse Adam Lang’s ancestor placed on his family.
I want to say I loved this story but that would be untrue. I did like it, I do want to find out what happens next but I didn’t love it. I love D.J. Manly as an author and I like his writing style but I just couldn’t bring myself to feel that deeply for the characters of Adam and Nicolas. Both were abrasive. Adam was self absorbed and Nicolas was obsessed with revenge. It wasn’t until the two met and started feeling a sexual connection that I begin to like them. Only then was a glimpse of the real men underneath their bitter and selfish facades. I enjoyed the plot and that was the saving point of this story for me. Readers beware there was sex involving men in werewolf form and homoerotic sex play. There was no happily ever after ending with Nicolas but as the beginning of a series there may be one at some point in the future.
