| Sasha is a witch with no powers; her father deemed her useless after the murder of her sister Petra and bound them. Niccolo, a powerful vampire, was married to Petra, and thought he loved her though attracted to the plainer Sasha. After Petra’s funeral, they had one night, resulting in their son Jagger. Sasha, rejected by both her father and Niccolo, raises Jagger alone with the help of her brothers. The Vampire/Wizard asks Sasha about his heritage and goes off to find his father, but he disappears, and massacres occur in Germany and Austria. Sasha goes off to find Niccolo and his family; they are the only ones who can find her son. Her attraction to Niccolo hasn’t faded, but Niccolo cannot decide if he loves her or hates her. He does know that he wants her.
This is an action packed fast moving story. The various immortals are described so well that I could picture them. Sasha’s relationship with her father was especially well done. The plot is pretty well developed and the love scenes frequent and volcanic. Although part of a series, this book stands pretty well on its own. This series has caught my interest, and I will be looking for more stories of the other Grimaldi brothers.
