| This is a quick read, fast-paced story of a couple named Joe and Marie, who meet in a bar and are instantly attracted to each other. Their friends, Tracey (Marie’s friend) and Eddie (Joe’s buddy), are quickly attached to each other also. The first night the “boys” stop in the bar, they go to the pool table which Marie owns because she was the last to win a game at that particular table. She confronts the men, and the games began!
While having a beer together, the men switch their speech to Spanish, obviously assuming that the women didn’t have enough sense to understand a foreign language. Joe bet Eddie $100 that he could “bed” Marie by Christmas Day. Of course, the women were aware of the bet! They were together several times and have great fun and fantastic chemistry! But would Marie allow Joe to win $100? Joe wanted to see Marie’s Christmas tree, but she had not decorated it yet. That was his excuse to get into her apartment. And what happened the day after Christmas? I really liked this book; it was a rapid read with a speedy tempo which was impossible to put down. Ms. DiPlacido is an excellent author with an obvious command of her characters, capable of giving the reader just what we need to maintain interest. I wholeheartedly recommend this book.
