When Gillian's mentor informs her that she going into estrus, the vampiress doesn't is surprised. It's earlier than most of her kind, but she figures it's her human heritage. When Lord Volnar tells her he has picked her mate she is very angry. When she confronts him he tells her it's part of his breeding plan for their species and that she should be willing to do her part, but she doesn't care for the vampire he has chosen for her and refuses to mate with him.

To keep from mating with Luciano when she goes into estrus she asks her human partner Paul to take her to his cabin. While there Paul finds out what she is, and since she cares for and is very sexually attracted to Paul she asks him to help her. Paul is taken back when Gillian just comes out and asks him to be her lover, but agrees since he has wanted Gillian for months. The question is will a human be able to keep up with a vampire sexually and if he does will he trust Gillian after estrus?

This is a very hot read, with lots of sex and with lots of unique twists. This is a very unique take on the vampire tale with the woman being the vampire and the human lover being the male. Having the male adjust to the role of being lover to a being that is superior in many ways is interesting and is very well done.
