Though Cliff was not there to meet her when she arrived, she simply thought he was out as usual gathering more footage. Her mind was still on that cougar and it's eyes, they seemed to call to her to come, to belong. It wasn't until she heard the terrible news that Cliff was dead that her life seemed to come to a halt. How could a man with all that knowledge be careless enough to be killed by the very animal he was stalking? Somehow it didn't seem right and Maka was determined to find out who and what really killed Cliff.

She moved into the cabin that Cliff had used while he was there. The sounds of the wild filled the evening air, yet Maka was not uncomfortable with the outdoors. What did make her uneasy was the man she had met at the sheriff's office who was the one who said he found Cliff. There was an uneasiness about his eyes. They were almost the same as the cougar's but that was ridicules, he was a man. A man who possessed the passion and virility of a mighty cat. A man who captured her and released more passion than she had ever experienced in her life. This man was indeed almost more than human.

Torcho had found his soul mate. One who he had body and soul, yet could he tell her the truth? Would she accept this man and all his faults or leave those nights of passion she had become addicted to?

Destiny awaits Maka. A life and world that she will never leave and a mystery that she carries from her father.
