Waiting in a parked car across from a strip club, Samantha and Darien are running surveillance on an entity known as a shadow stalker on a cold, snowy night. Sam had apparently been attracted to Darien for a while, since she became part of the agency that employs them both. She knows little about him and doesn't believe anything will come of her attraction. But the night is young and what starts out as a naughty game of truth or dare to pass the time, turns into a revealing and steamy interlude for Sam.

Night Shift is part of a winter themed series of short works from Changeling Press and my first work by this particular author. The sexual scene at the heart of this story was suitably erotic and well done. The plot wrapped around it, however, offered nothing new or unique. The characterization was decent, the dialogue passable, and the paranormal aspect minimal. If nothing else, the story was consistent in its light-hearted quest for sex and fun. In that it did keep its promise.
