A chance encounter changes the lives of both Adam Calder and Eva Evans. His selfless act in saving her life earns him a place in the Void as a Nightwing trying to find his window back into the real world. Eva hasn't been able to forget her savior's face, especially since she sees it every night in her dreams. A second encounter changes their lives again.

The opening scene is one that can happen to anyone, being completely blindsided by such an intense attraction that it stops you in your tracks. Adam's reaction to Eva is more than that, though, and his action proves that point. But his action also proves that he is not a completely bad person and has some redeeming qualities, even if they are only brought out by a beautiful woman. Eva's reaction to being saved is understandable, and her obsession highlights the kind of impact Adam has on her life. When they get their second chance, both grab onto it and are reluctant to let it go. They really do suit each other well, and the heat between them illustrates just how well they fit together.

Though the story is slightly predictable, there is a nice twist at the end which allows for the ending to be satisfying for readers. B. J. McCall has done a nice job crafting an enjoyable story.
