| Kent Alistair is a secretary to a high powered attorney by day and Ninja Shadow Walker at night or whenever the shadows that allow him to use his power are present. Liz is a secret informer for the FBI and also Kent’s boss. She’s working undercover at an agency run by a Triad whose leaders are trying to rule the world. If a group of Alchemists can get enough power from the right sources they’ll be able to devise a key that can help them let loose the demons from hell and control them. The Snakehead Triad is doing its own part to disrupt the world and keep its superheroes busy. Liz and Kent are both trying to help stop them in their own way but neither knows what the other is trying to do.
Ms. Li has penned an excellent story. There’s a Paranormal Bureau whose leader, Jasper, often shows up at the most opportune moment. Magic and sorcery come into play as the Alchemists battle the Magic ones using all their wiles and wits. Throughout it all there’s the love story that has exquisite passion along with so many twists and turns as the story develops that it could be real life. I expected to start it one day and finish it the next but found it moved so well I didn’t want to put it down until I found out how the author made it all work. She didn’t disappoint me. It well worth the read.
