Jack is stressing seriously this morning, waiting on a very late arrival, Paige Delaney, his web designer. The situation is hard on Jack. Reliance is something he gives only hesitantly, due to bad experiences in the past, and this first meeting between the two, where he has to trust that she can carry the ball on this very important presentation, is now starting out on the least stable of pillars.

For Paige, absolutely everything goes wrong, and on the very morning she has something very important to cover at work on her first day back after vacation. The news that her old boss is gone and a new is in place, and has been waiting anxiously for her, doesnt bode well. Then her first sight of Jack.

Over the next several weeks the two have many opportunities to work and play together and this allows them to really get to know one another. The attraction is strong on both sides but as with any relationship where two are also co-workers, hesitation to create new problems can hinder happiness. Jack has been trice badly burned in love and once very badly burned in business, so much so that he lost his firm, and letting himself go and giving in to his feelings for Paige, is very hard for him. Paige finds that her thoughts wander to Jack at every possible minute. Then something surprising happens; he buys the house next door; that fact unknown by either beforehand. And in the meantime it turns out that their teenage children have become very good friends. Fate has already intervened in the lives of two somewhat unfulfilled individuals.

This is a wonderful love story. I enjoyed the fact that, although Jack had more than one bad relationship in his past, he was still capable of falling in love with Paige and so easily acknowledging that fact to himself. What a wonderfully romantic story and definitely recommended reading.
