| Feeling trapped in a marriage that had soured, Shawn moved through his life in a daze. His wife Hillary had turned into a religious fanatic, and didn't want a lot to do with him that wasn't within her strict religion. When he decides to buy a chair at a church auction, He's not sure what is attracting him to it. On the day it's delivered, he finds out that he's bought more than just a chair…
Nocturnique is a very short story. For as short as it was, it still drew you in, and was a good story. The story felt like it could have went a lot farther, almost like you were reading a chapter instead of a short story. The author did a good job of making you sympathize with Shawn, and understand his feelings of powerlessness. I would recommend this story, and I will be looking for more of this authors work, hopefully in the longer form.
