| Victoria Olson really didn't know what she'd find at the end of the dirt road, but she knew she couldn't go back home. Back home she was wanted for murder for killing her husband Charlie. Not that he didn't deserve it the way he abused her all those years. It was her sister Maggie's idea for her to head to Wyoming and pose as Maggie. Seems Maggie had been writing to this Ben Bullock for the past six months. Well he sent her money to get out there after she accepted his proposal. He's never seen Maggie and Vi needed a place to start fresh.
Matt Bullock didn't expect to find a woman sprawled on the dirt road leading to his ranch. In his mind women were nothing but trouble - any woman. After Vi told him her sad story he had to give her the bad news that Ben Bullock was murdered two months ago. Seems they are both stuck in a situation that may or may not have a light at the end of the tunnel so to speak. Vi knows she can't go back and decides to make a deal with Matt to stay there for one month and earn her keep. They make a bargain that may soon end up beneficial for both. Meanwhile back home Charlie didn't die, guess nothing was going right for Vi. He wants his wife back and it's Sheriff John Cahill and Maggie who make the trip to bring Vi back home to him. Along the way the story takes another romantic turn since the Sheriff has been in love with Maggie since they were kids. Of curse the he's never told her, just like a man. He kinda figured she knew - sometimes men don't get the idea women would like to be told these things. Matt on the other hand knew Vi was trouble but it was the kind of trouble he really didn't mind. A short but entertaining story of two sisters whose search for that special thing called love takes them in unexpected directions. I loved the book and the characters are very believable. A recommended read!
