This book just proves that What you see is not always what you get! Tiffany had lived in this small town her entire life! However, it was obvious that many people did not know much about her. She was a single mother of a nine-year-old daughter, Ellie, and they lived with her widowed mother. The town assumed that she was “unwed” and lived off her mother. Nothing could have been further from the truth, but she made no attempt to change their ignorant ideas. She lived a quiet life and spent as much time as possible with the two ladies in her life.

Tiffany had needed a job, six years ago, that made lots of money so that she could support Ellie, help her mother pay the medical bills which amassed when her father was dying of lung cancer. The house was about to be foreclosed, and she could not stand to see the house her father had built himself being taken away from her mother. She started dancing at a nightclub in the big city on Friday and Saturday nights. She put Ellie to bed before she left, her mother babysat, and she was home by 2:00 am. She also was going to college working on a double master’s degree in business and child development. She would graduate in just a few months.

While biking home with Ellie from a fishing trip, Tiffany noticed a car headed straight for her little girl—she sped up, threw Ellie out of the way, and was, herself, hit by the car. The older woman did not stop; however, a man passing in a pickup truck stopped and helped her and her daughter home. Marcus bandaged her wounds and stayed and cooked their supper. The developing relationship was the focus of this amazing story.

There are so many ups and downs in this novel that I can guarantee that you will find many things to love! The characters are solid and diverse. I laughed and cried. The ending is a big surprise! I recommend this book wholeheartedly as one for the keeper shelf!
