| Note: This novel overlaps the first, titled Beneath the Surface, but each stands easily alone.
Bouncer Bram rescues a woman from the hands of a stinky-breath drunk in Club Strigoi and then turns back to feast his eyes on the beautiful girl. The rest of his body would like to feed on her too. Writer Dani, visiting the club to get some atmosphere for her next vampire novel, finds her mind constantly filled with thoughts of Bram. As these two get to know each other, Dani slowly loses her inhibitions as her thoughts turn to wanting Bram's notice. Her clothing style changes, she doesn't let herself get pushed around by others as easily as in the past; Bram is good for her. But then he lets his heart guide him into springing a surprise on her one day and that is the start of trouble. Experiencing the two going through hell, his friends and relatives decide to have a hand in their relationship, knowing they really love and need each other. I was lucky enough to review the first story (title above) and that was delicious and this story is just as satisfying; this series is addictive. You really want to know just what is in store for these characters. I thought it wonderful of Bram to really go out on a limb by being open and upfront with Dani--giving her his trust. Thank goodness she gave him hers in return. They're perfect for each other. Now I'm waiting anxiously for a certain other character (named Stoker) to get his story. Definitely a keeper…
