| Kelly is busy exploring a new planet when she and her fellow scientists find themselves under attack from a huge beast that even their laser weapons don't seem to have an effect on. She happens to be out of the way when it starts to attack, but when the beast starts heading for her; one of the local natives jumps in and saves her. Grateful beyond belief, she's still shocked to find herself attracted to the alien despite their differences. But Rye has a couple of surprises in store for her that she doesn't expect.
When the story first started, it was really exciting and I was all for finding out what was going on with the two and more about where Kelly has landed. It turned out a little differently than I thought it would, and in some ways didn't really flow very well because of it. I thought the surprises that came about were unusual and quite a twist, but the ending seemed a little confusing and didn't flow well with the rest of the story. I would have liked to have learned more about Rye's people and what was going on, I think the story would have fit together better if I had that knowledge. No Way Home is to be continued, so perhaps some of the inconsistencies will straighten itself out with the next in the series. Overall, it was an entertaining story that I had a good time reading.
