| In the town of Nowhere Harleigh thinks she has a chance to escape her abusive husband. Nowhere is a small town where the people protect their own. When Harleigh shows up, obviously running and afraid, the people of Nowhere open their arms to her. She finds a job working at a café where she is then introduced to Dr. Caleb Forrester. Caleb sees in Harleigh a wounded soul, someone who has obviously suffered abuse. He also sees a beautiful woman that he feels a need to protect and get to know. He leads her to Rose House, a bed and breakfast inn that is owned by his mother Kate. Upon first walking up to the house Harleigh feels the magic and the house seems to welcome her. During her first few weeks she thinks she sees a glowing being and feels a sense of welcome and protection. Harleigh begins to feel closer to the people of Nowhere, especially Caleb. She is afraid her ex-husband will be coming for her and she will have to leave the peace and love she has found and the only home she has ever known.
Nowhere a title that comes from the town's name. Nowhere is a place where everyone seems to come in need of help and finds it there among its citizens. Cissy Hassell has written a story based on a woman escaping an abusive ex-husband. This story is unique in the fact that it has an added paranormal aspect that truly enhances the story. As expected the plot is for Harleigh to become stronger and to see her confront her ex-husband. This is accomplished through a frightening and suspenseful encounter that contains many surprises for the reader. The violence against Harleigh is briefly described and it is horrific. Harleigh is a broken spirit that has to learn to trust and love. Her character depicts the typical description of an abused woman and the author conveys the emotions Harleigh is feeling very clearly. It is easy to see her cower and shrink from others, always looking for a means of escape. The character of Caleb is caring and obviously loves Harleigh. He is a passionate person and when he is angry it comes through as frightening. It is an interesting relationship between these two. Their relationship quickly becomes a sensual experience that demonstrates the passion these two people feel for each other. The dialogue is well written and communicates the feelings and attitudes of all concerned. The paranormal aspects of the story are fascinating, as well as the history of Rose House. I can hardly wait for the sequel where I hope to learn more. Nowhere is a captivating and imaginative story that all readers will enjoy.
