| Monroe "Roe" Davis has been drifting since his family found out he was gay. He doesn't stay anywhere for long. He recently landed at Nowhere Ranch in Nebraska as a ranch hand. Due to trust issues, he generally keeps to himself and doesn't socialize with the other hands. Imagine Roe's surprise when he shows up at a gay bar two hours away from the ranch and runs into the ranch owner Travis Loving. Roe and Travis are commitment phobic and begin a sex only relationship. Will they be able to stop their hearts from getting involved? Will Roe finally find a home at the Nowhere Ranch?
Roe and Travis are characters that we can all relate to. They have trust issues because they've been hurt by people they've loved in the past. While the relationship is hard for both men, I think it's harder for Travis because Roe is an admitted runner when things get tough. I love the strong hand that he takes to Roe and how Travis is always challenging him not to give in to the urge to run. While it's hard for Travis to admit, he knows that he and Roe are meant to be together and he's willing to put in the extra work to keep his man. Although I had a personal issue with this story, I really enjoyed it. It's written in first person, which I don't normally like because I feel as if I'm missing out on the other characters' points of view. I didn't feel that way with Nowhere Ranch. It's a well written story that allows the reader to see growth in the characters. We're even able to see growth in secondary character, Haley. Haley is not only a force to be reckoned with, but a scene stealer. We all need a Haley in our corner ready and willing to fight our battles when we don't have the ability to do so. I mentioned that I had a personal issue with this story. I like my kink and fetish as much as the next girl, but some of the sex scenes between Roe and Travis were a little too raw and over the top for my taste. Credit should be given to Ms. Cullinan for writing a story that kept my interest enough that these scenes didn't make me put the book down. I hope that everyone will go out and read this book.
