| Jade doesn't believe in the metaphysical and doesn't bake or cook when she inherits her late grandmother's closed bakery in South Carolina. Lovers Aidan and Marc, who live above the bakery, await her arrival. They want her to complete their ménage, and they've been assigned to protect the Guardian.
The title of this story is confusing and so is the opening. Even with several readings, it's difficult to figure out who or what is to be guarded and why. Adding to the confusion is that it takes longer into the tale to realize why an evil entity, intent on killing them, attacks Marc and Aidan in this first section. There's occasional head-hopping, and the bakery is misnamed. The full-figured heroine might as well have been of normal weight for all it means to the story. However, the paranormal element is well done in a tale where the main thrust is the great sexual tension and hot ménage scenes, written with such skill they arouse readers and keep them reading. Jade, Aidan and Marc are believable and likeable three-dimensional people. The drama of the plot is neatly wrapped up in the closing moments. Despite the early confusion, readers of ménage will thoroughly enjoy Eliza Gayle's story. She's an author to watch.
